There’s something deeper in the music made at night.
Freedom and solitude. Insecurities become stronger, as if carried by the dim moonlight. Yet this is the time when can express ourselves freely, while silence and solitude force us to look within rather than without.
Recorded over the last few years, Selene is a collection of 6 nocturnal compositions by ikjoyce. The album’s title comes from the Greek goddess of the moon, who fell in love with the eternally sleeping Endymion. Selene is a sonic analysis of all things nocturnal: the boundaries of the sleep cycle, sleep deprivation and paralysis, the moon, and the impact that night has on the way we feel and create. The result is an intimate, haunting concept album which studies the mysterious realm of our own personality.
