about

Naviar is proud to release C H I L D's debut album. Wabi Sabi is centered around the idea of beauty hidden underneath imperfections, a theme C H I L D explores using evocative, constantly evolving soundscapes mixed with hints of vocals, tape texture and field recordings.

"Life itself is the most powerful force we can imagine. We are unable to fully understand its dynamics, rules and energy and yet we've been constantly trying to control it. Because we're afraid of any kind of flaw, of everything which is not matching our expectations, we keep on evolving, trying to overcome our own imperfect and fragile nature. Looking outside and inside, we can recognize this fight against everything imperfect, often overseeing, that imperfection is implicitly part of life itself.
Following the path of imperfection and beauty in the cracks of life, I assembled various structures and textures through tape looping and grain synthesis, added by different vague narrative elements, hinting to single motifs inspired by the culture of wabi sabi, which rather embraces the cracks and the imperfection than fighting against it. It's all about the will to face life - life as it is, not as wanted or modeled, but as this beautiful and sometimes challenging, sometimes distorted one moment we have."

Attila Varga aka C H I L D is a German artist whose main creative purpose is to research and interpret the human nature using various media.
While residing in Berlin, Attila focused his attention on electronic music and created his own musical language, which he uses to explore what it's like to be a human being in the 21st century.
After becoming a father, Attila and his family moved to Rügen, Germany's biggest island. Far from the overwhelming and hectic lifestyle of a big city, Attila continues his sonic exploration of the human mind.

"I would like to thank my family for giving me the taste of life every day. Without you my life wouldn’t be the adventure it is.
I thank my friend Johannes for the persistence of our connection and the will to explore a musical language based on freedom and courage.
A special thank you is for my missed friend and teacher Patrick for encouraging the force within me. May you Rest In Peace. -

Sometimes life is full of cracks, but every crack gives light and beauty space to shine through.“
